Susan opened the Harrison School of Irish Dance in 2013 after passing her teachers exam, holding one class a week in a local restaurants function suite.  This was a few months before she was moving to Australia on a career break.  After returning from Australia in 2014 she started up the class again and had an influx of new beginners from the local primary school.  

Some of the dancers started competing in December 2014 and since then the school has celebrated Local Champions, World Qualifiers, podium placers at many Major Championships and most recently her dancer Ethan Farrel achieved a 2nd place globe and becoming All Ireland Champion.

Susan danced from the age of 4 dancing for both the Kennedy School and Peter Thompson school, coming runner up in both the All Scotland and Great Britain Championships.  As well competing in Irish Dancing she was also part of the U17 Scotland Netball Squad, won the Scottish Cup with Scotstoun Netball Team and coached many girls to District and National level at Netball.

Susan's day job as a PE teacher gives her the expertise to accommodate for all levels of dancers, from beginner or recreation dancers wanting to learn the beautiful form of Irish Dance to dancers wanting to achieve their full potential and compete at the top level.

Opening my own studio has been an aspiration for many years and now having our own facility means the Harrison School can cater for all levels and age groups and provides an opportunity to build dancers confidence, make new friends and fall in love with Irish Dance.

Julie danced from the age of 4, spending most of her competitive career with the Stewart School.  Throughout her career spanning two decades, some notable achievements include winning the Scottish Oireachtas three times, won World medals for ceili teams  and then retired from competition in 2018 having achieved a personal best top 3 placement at the British Nationals.

A few short months later, Julie was invited to Florida where she danced 6 nights a week entertaining guests from all over the world as part of the dancing cast at Raglan Road in Disney Springs.

In August 2022, Julie successfully passed her TCRG exam and joined the teaching staff at the Harrison  School of Dance.

Julie will be leading our new classes in St Philomena's church hall and Condorrat Social Club, in our exciting new expansion, as well as spending time with the classes in our Queenslie studio.

Amanda started dancing at a young age and competed in both teams and solo's for Peter Thompson, where she had an extremely successful dancing career up to the age of 17.  Amanda started to attend the Harrison adult class after Covid 19 and last year was runner up in the first ever Great Britain's adult competition.

Amanda has also developed our Harrison Hopper curriculum where children as young as 18 months learn to love the  music, develop co-ordination, balance and basic dance technique.  Amanda's enthusiasm and fun loving attitude makes this class fun and engaging for our tiny tots and parents alike.
